This project determined optimal coagulation chemistry for raw surface water and developed the hydraulic design of a municipal-scale sedimentation-cum-coagulation treatment basin.
Key Engineering Scope
- Water Quality Testing: Tested raw samples for baseline turbidity, pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), and electrical conductivity.
- Jar Test Optimization: Carried out controlled jar testing across varying alum dosages to establish the optimum coagulation dose for maximum turbidity removal.
- Sedimentation Basin Sizing: Dimensioned a rectangular continuous-flow settling tank, calculating detention time, surface overflow rates, and floor slope for sludge accumulation.
- Hydraulic Controls: Sized inlet perforated baffle walls for uniform dispersion and effluent V-notch collection launders to satisfy standard weir loading rates.
